TypeCase
JLPT Leveln5

Summary

Marks the endpoint or limit in time or space. Often paired with から to express a range.

Usage Rules

  • Until (time): end point of a continuous action
  • Up to (space): physical limit or destination
  • までに = by (a deadline) — different from まで (continuously)
  • Can combine with から: から〜まで (from〜until〜)
  • Often used with movement verbs as destination

Example Sentences

I work until 6 o'clock.

Go to Tokyo by Shinkansen.

Please submit homework by Friday.

I worked from morning until night.

How far are you going?

Common Mistake

Confusing まで (until) with までに (by/deadline).
