Usage

A very formal expression meaning 'even'. Used in set phrases and literary contexts, often in negative or hypothetical structures. Stronger emphasis on minimal degree than すら.

Example sentences

想像だにしなかった。

I didn't even imagine (such a thing).

彼の名を聞くだに恐ろしい。

Just hearing his name is frightening.

夢だに思わなかった。

I never even dreamed of it.

その結果は予想だにできなかった。

I couldn't even predict the result.

そんなことは言うだに許されない。

Even saying such a thing is unforgivable.
