Formation

Verb (plain) + わけだ / わけではない / わけがない

Usage

わけだ expresses logical explanation or conclusion. わけではない means 'it doesn't mean that'. わけがない means 'there's no way that'.

Example sentences

日本に10年いたので、日本語が上手なわけです。

Since I was in Japan for 10 years, it's natural I'm good at Japanese.

日本人だからといって、漢字が読めるわけではない。

Just because I'm Japanese doesn't mean I can read all kanji.

そんな難しい問題、子供に解けるわけがない。

There's no way a child can solve such a difficult problem.

彼が来ないわけがわからない。

I don't understand the reason he's not coming.

勉強したのだから、合格するわけです。

Since I studied, it follows that I'll pass.
