Indicates degree or extent, often used in comparisons. More objective than くらい.

Usage Rules

  • AほどB: B to the extent of A
  • ほど〜ない: not as〜as (negative comparison)
  • 〜ば〜ほど: the more〜the more
  • ほど: maximum degree (as much as)
  • ほどだ: to the extent that
  • More objective than くらい

Example Sentences

しぬほどつかれた。

Common Mistake

Using ほど for approximate quantities (use くらい/ぐらい for approximations, ほど for degree).
