Usage Rules

  • Approximate quantity: くらい/ぐらい = about/approximately
  • Extent: 〜くらい = to the extent that
  • Minimum: 〜くらい = at least
  • くらいなら: rather than (comparison)
  • ぐらい is more casual than くらい
  • Often interchangeable with ほど but くらい is more subjective
