Formation

Verb た-form + ら / い-adjective かったら / な-adjective + だったら / Noun + だったら

Usage

A versatile conditional form. Can express if, when, or after. The result clause can be a request, opinion, or statement.

Example sentences

雨が降ったら、試合は中止です。

If it rains, the game will be canceled.

東京に着いたら、電話してください。

When you arrive in Tokyo, please call me.

安かったら、買います。

If it's cheap, I'll buy it.

先生だったら、教えてくれるでしょう。

If you're a teacher, you'd probably teach me.

暇だったら、遊びに来てください。

If you're free, please come visit.
