Verb (plain) + はず / い-adjective + はず / な-adjective + な + はず / Noun + の + はず

Usage

Expresses an expectation based on logical reasoning or known facts. The speaker believes something is likely true or supposed to happen.

Example sentences

彼はもう来るはずです。

He should be coming soon.

今日は休みのはずだ。

I'm supposed to have today off.

ここに置いたはずなのに、ない。

I'm sure I put it here, but it's not here.

値段は安いはずです。

The price should be cheap.
