Formation

Sentence (plain/polite) + ので

Usage

Similar to から but softer and more polite. Often used in formal situations or when giving a reason that might require an excuse.

Example sentences

雨が降ったので、試合は中止になりました。

Because it rained, the game was canceled.

頭が痛いので、先に帰ります。

Since I have a headache, I'm going home early.

お金がないので、買えません。

Because I don't have money, I can't buy it.

時間がないので、急ぎましょう。

Since we don't have time, let's hurry.

寒いので、窓を閉めてもいいですか?

Since it's cold, may I close the window?
